Pearls to Pigs
2016
In the process of breaking with aseptic aesthetics, so pervaded in my advertising work, I went out to investigate new themes and went to look for inspiration in the landscapes of the backcountry of Ceará. In the midst of this exuberant scenario, my attention turned, unexpectedly, to a pigsty that housed some pigs. In that instant, seduced, I understood that my gaze had undergone a shift from the idealized image around me, to the dirty and unusual aesthetic of that environment. It was a leap into chaos, from order to disorder.
I saw in that animalistic voracity, in the dispute for food, the clearest metaphor of my anguish in the search for the deconstruction of the image.
This subversion took place during editing, when the images of the pigs began to gain the company of the models' files, borrowed from my advertising campaigns and little by little they were mixing, intertwining in digital layers, creating a metaphysical visuality of hybrid DNA.
